General description

Receptor-linked protein-tyrosine phosphatases (RPTPs) are signaling proteins that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitosis, apoptosis, and oncogenic transformation. They contain an extracellular domain, a single transmembrane segment, and two tandem intra-cytoplasmic catalytic domains. They act as key regulators of neuronal morphogenesis in a variety of vertebrate and invertebrates; however, the exact mechanism by which they regulate central nervous system development is not clearly understood. They are shown to be important in growth of axons during nervous system development in Drosophila. In vertebrates, type IIa PTPRs, namely PTPgamma, PTPsigma, and leukocyte common-antigen-related (LAR) and the type III PTPR, PTP receptor type O have been implicated in the regulation of axon growth

Immunogen

Recombinant protein corresponding to human PTPR.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.

Physical form

Protein G Purified

Format: Purified

Purified mouse monoclonal IgG2aκ in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in rat brain membrane tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 1 µg/mL of this antibody detected PTPR in rat brain membrane tissue lysate.

Specificity

This antibody cross reacts with PTPRD and PTPRS (Prof. J. Trimmer, University of California, Davis.).

Other homologies: Mouse (97% sequence homology).

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at 2-8°C from date of receipt.

Target description

~78 kDa observed. The full length protein is 210 kDa; however, it runs lower in Western Blotting due to proteolysis into P-subunit containing transmembrane and intracellular domains (Prof. J. Trimmer, University of California, Davis).
